Susan Lois Milsky, 74 of Eastham, MA, passionate teacher, avid world traveler, and master bridge player, passed away on March 17th after a brief and devastating battle with ALS. Susan graduated from New York University in 1969 with a degree in Education. She moved to Cape Cod when her husband Peter was stationed at Otis Air Force base and taught home economics at Nauset High School, Cape Cod Tech and Chatham Elementary school. After teaching, Susan also worked closely with her husband when she managed Lower Cape Dental Associates. She pursued arts and crafts passionately, alternating between leatherwork, stained glass, basket weaving, sewing and needlepoint. Upon retirement, Susan and Peter produced fused glass jewelry and sold their pieces at galleries and craft shows throughout Cape Cod and New England. Susan was a world traveler who visited well over 100 countries including all seven continents. She was an avid bridge player, earning the level of Ruby Life Master. Susan and Peter were deeply involved in the Fresh Air Fund, providing children from New York City the opportunity to spend time on Cape Cod. She was known by friends as the “Coupon Queen” but that name belied her deep philanthropic generosity. Her family often laughed along with her for committing hilarious malapropisms and mispronunciations, especially of many the places she’d been.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Peter Milsky. Her two sons, Daniel and Adam Milsky, four grandchildren, Sasha, Noah, Summer, and Lucy, her sister, Joan Leegant, and two cousins Laurie and Jo Anne who were like sisters to her. In lieu of a funeral, a memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations in Susan’s memory can be made to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574.
