John F. Robinson, Jr., 69, retired Chelmsford Firefighter, and a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Emerson Hospital, Concord, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was the beloved husband of Anne M. (Donigan) Robinson, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.
He was born on February 17, 1957, in Sacramento, CA and was the son of the late John F., Sr. and Nancy H. (Wardell) Robinson.
Raised a “military brat” in Colorado, New Mexico, and New Jersey before finally settling in Chelmsford, John graduated from Chelmsford High School and the University of Lowell. Holding many jobs, John most notably retired from the Chelmsford Fire Department in 2022 after 34 years of service. He continued to work as an Emergency Department Technician at Emerson Hospital in Concord, even past his diagnosis. John loved watching M.A.S.H., cooking large breakfast spreads at the firehouse, spending summers at the beach, coaching and playing hockey, and, most of all, making memories with his large, loving family.
In addition to his loving wife, John leaves his children Conor P. Robinson and his partner Adriana, Keleigh A. Phoumyvong and her husband Tommy, Courtney G. Silva and her husband Brian, Christopher J. Robinson and his partner Audrey, Andrew J. Robinson and his partner Kara, and Emily A. Robinson; his granddaughter Grace M. Phoumyvong; his loyal dogs Teddy and Finn; his siblings Susan Barr and her husband Charles of Ashburnham, Nancy Aronian and her husband Paul of Chelmsford, Charles R. Robinson and his wife Beth of Reading, and Kenneth R. Robinson of Chicago, IL; his aunt Janet Hamm; his cousin Melissa Hamm of Greenwich, CT; as well as many nieces and nephews.
John is predeceased by his grandparents Kenneth Weston Wardall and Grace (Burt) Wardell and Hillary Robinson and Stella Robinson; his great aunt Marguerite Wardell; and his brother-in-law Thomas J. Donigan.
