On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, James (Jay) Hagberg, loving brother and father, passed away unexpectedly in the hospital at the age of 59. Jay was born on March 16,1962 in Malden, MA. He was a 1980 graduate of Hopkinton High School and worked thereafter in the family business alongside his father and brother.

Jay was preceded in death by his father John and his mother Elizabeth (Betsy). He is survived by his daughter, Karina of Westborough, his brother George of Hopkinton and sister Brenda of Norwell. He also leaves behind his niece Grace and nephews Peter, John, Luke and Joshua, as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles.

“Good N You” – Jay had a gentle easy-going spirit and was known for his unique phrases and welcoming smile. He loved fishing, family, friends and football, probably in that order. His proudest achievement was being a father and he cherished any time they spent together. He had amazing friends who cared for him deeply. Even when he was diagnosed with ALS in 2020, his spirit did not break. His bravery was inspiring; he was loved by all who cared for him.

There will be visitation at Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, 34 Church Street, Hopkinton, MA on Monday January 17th from 11:00-1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care ALS of Falmouth, MA.
