Glenn Walter Haab of Springs died at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital of complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) on July 13. He was 71.

Mr. Haab was born on July 20, 1948 in Port Jefferson to Walter Haab and Constance Laidlaw.

He graduated from Bayport High School in 1966.

Mr. Haab married Deborah Ann (Card) Haab of Apalachin, New York, on December 6, 1975.

He was a charter boat mate in the 1960s, and a captain in the early 1980s in Montauk.

He was a softball umpire beginning when his daughters started playing lassie league in East Hampton in the late 1980s, and continued his umpiring career through the spring of 2019.

Mr. Haab loved his dogs, the outdoors, carpentry, walking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, according to family members.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Haab; his mother Constance Haab of Bayport; and his children, Jessica Connors of Pulaski, New York and Denise Calandrillo of Franklin, New Jersey; five grandchildren; his sister Christine Mars of Bayport; and his sons-in-law James Connors and Sean Calandrillo.

A visitation was scheduled for Thursday, July 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
