Gaetano Santoro, born on January 26, 1959, in Salerno, Italy, to Vincenzo and Vincenza Santoro, was the cherished firstborn of four children. His early years were spent in Italy, where he attended elementary and middle school before immigrating to the United States in 1974. Settling in the Bronx, Gaetano completed his high school education at Roosevelt High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Herbert H. Lehman College in 1984.

His professional journey in Human Resources began after graduation, leading him to roles at the United Nations, RAI Italia, and Elizabeth Seton Children’s Hospital.

Gaetano’s heart found its counterpart 40 years ago in the Bronx. He and his beloved Patricia were married at Fordham University in 1988. Their life together took them from the Bronx to Bronxville, then Mount Kisco, and eventually to Bedford Hills. Gaetano was a devoted father to his two daughters, Stephanie, 31, and Julia, 28. His pride in them was evident, and their visits were the highlight of his life.

A lover of animals, especially birds, Gaetano had a deep appreciation for wildlife and took immense pride in his garden, which he treasured as much as his family. His enthusiasm extended to his political interests and his fondness for the Discovery Channel. More recently, he discovered a passion for cooking, often preparing Italian dishes on weekends.

Gaetano was a passionate sports fan, with his heart belonging to his beloved Napoli Soccer team. His enthusiasm for Napoli was so infectious that it inspired his wife Patricia to become an avid fan herself. Though he also enjoyed following the New York Rangers, nothing compared to his devotion to Napoli.

Italy held a special place in Gaetano’s heart, and he took great pride in his Italian heritage, relishing every opportunity to visit his homeland.

Gaetano is survived by his devoted wife Patricia, his beloved daughters Stephanie and Julia, his sister Louisa DeCicco, and his brother Massimiliano Santoro. He also leaves behind his nieces Simone and Alessandra, and his nephews Vincenzo and Gianluca.

His presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will live on through the love and joy he brought into the lives of those around him. Family & friends are invited to Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Directors on Thursday August 29th 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for visitation.
