Millie Botelho, 65, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with ALS. Millie was born in Linhares da Beira, Portugal and was the beloved daughter to the late Antonio and Maria Conceição DaCosta.
Millie was a well-respected member of her community, known for her independence, strong work ethic, and friendly nature. She had a deep love for life’s simple joys—traveling to new places, enjoying long walks with her sisters, and striking up conversations wherever she went. Her vibrant spirit and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Mandy Machado, and a proud mother-in-law to Frankie Machado. Millie’s two granddaughters, Brooke and Makenna, were the light of her life and brought her endless joy.
Millie is survived by her partner, Helder Medeiros, who was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver throughout her illness. She is also survived by her loving siblings Jose DaCosta, Matilde Raphael, Inez Valentim, Alice Pereira and their spouses. Millie also leaves behind her best friend, Fernanda Sousa, whose unwavering love and support were a constant source of comfort. She will be missed by her nieces (including the late Sandy DaCruz), nephews, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.
A special thank you to the staff at the Leonard Florence Center including Savannah, Amelia, Cindy, Jackie and Daniel.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Saint Francis Xavier Church on Thursday, November 13 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held in the funeral home prior to the Mass from 8:30–10:00 AM. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
