Andrés Nicolás Muñoz passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, in Apopka, Florida, at the age of 65.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Andrés was a man of quiet strength and deep love. In 1972, his family moved to the United States, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and an infectious love for music.

He graduated from Washington High School and later married Carmen Elsa Díaz, with whom he had his daughter Zuleika Muñoz (now Johnson). Andrés also lovingly adopted Carmen’s daughter, Cynthia Muñoz, raising her as his own. Though their marriage ended in 1996, Andrés remained a devoted father.

Later in life, Andrés found love and dedication with Marian Polanco, with whom he shared meaningful years together.
In the early 2000s, Andrés moved from Miami to New York City, where he worked as a drape installer at Maison de France. He was cherished by his coworkers for his warm spirit, dedication, and kind heart.

Andrés is survived by his daughters, Zuleika Johnson and Cinthya Lucas; granddaughters, Taliyah Johnson and Serena Johnson; and siblings, Irma Olivo, Candida Muñoz, José Muñoz, Carlos Muñoz, and Juan Muñoz. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Christian Muñoz.
To know Andrés was to know joy-his passion for music could light up any room, and his dance moves were unforgettable. He was an extraordinary father, uncle, spouse, son, and friend whose presence brought warmth and love to everyone around him.

A private viewing memorial for immediate family and close friends will be held on Sunday, December 29, at DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Andrés’ honor to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS) www.ccals.org, that supported his fight against ALS.

Andrés’ legacy of love, laughter, and music will live on in the hearts of those who knew him
