John Raymond Brand, III (52) of East Falmouth, MA passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, March 6th of cardiac arrest.
John was the most dedicated father anyone could dream of. He was warm, kind, thoughtful, generous, and had the ability to fix every situation. John leaves 5 children: Johnny IV and Hannah (Greg), (both 24); Evan (22), Alli (18), and Owen (8). Owen and John were inseparable and John’s mission in life was to make sure that Owen was happy, safe, and had the greatest childhood possible. They played football every morning while waiting for the bus, walks in the woods, making forts, roller skating in the house, building snowmen, wrestling on the bed, bike rides, Disney World, and so much more. The other kids were grown but no matter where they were they knew that all they had to do was call him and he would stop everything to help them, talk to them, or make things better. He was so very proud of them and who they had grown into. He had 3 grandsons who don’t understand where their Puppa is: Jack (4), Landon (1), and Oliver (dec.) they will miss the fun and games, the shoulder rides, silly faces, and belly laughs.
He loved so very deeply. He cared so much. He made us all feel safe and special. He had a smile and dimples that could make your darkest day bright- he was a happy person. He is the only person I have ever met that loved his teens and 20’s, loved going to school. He talked all the time about growing up on the pond, Rick and Aaron, driving Robby around on his handlebars, the trouble they got into, his mom driving around looking for him, and racing home before she found him. He was born in Falmouth and lived here every day since. He loved this town, the people in it, the memories he has, and that it was his home.
A lot of you know the Brand family- they are a family that cares for each other, loves each other, and depends on each other; there are not many families that have what they have. This is what John had from them and what they had from him. To say that he has left a crater in our lives, is a gross understatement. He took road trips with his siblings, vacationed together, golf games, late night fire pits, so much talking, so much laughter. And love. He talked to his mom and dad each and every day. He was 52 but he still went to his mom for advice and help, still called his dad if something needed fixing, a light bulb burned out, he needed to argue about politics, the state of the universe, or must watch tv shows.
John worked for Stop and Shop Supermarket as a produce manager for over 30 years, most recently in the Dennis, MA store but also in Falmouth, Marston’s Mills, and several others. I can’t even begin to name the names of all the friends he made along the way.
John made me a better person, he was my rock, and life will never be the same. John loved living. If he were writing this he would tell you all that he had the greatest life, that he was truly lucky, had amazing memories, and no regrets.
John leaves behind his wife Cate, his children, and grandchildren. He leaves his beloved parents John and Janet, siblings and best friends Debbie, Lauri (Donny), and Todd (Joy) as well as the greatest crew of nieces and nephews: Amanda, Noelle and Ben, Donny, Sara, and Abby, and Ava.
All that knew John are invited to join us for a graveside service at 11:00 am on Saturday March 13th, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, 167 East Falmouth Hwy Route 28 East Falmouth.
