Wilma Catherine (Brunner) Fiorina, 75, of Latrobe, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Wilma was born on September 7, 1950, in Braddock. She attended Norwin Senior High School, where her vibrant personality and many talents shone brightly. During her senior year, she was voted Best Dancer, Most Athletic, and Wittiest of her class. She was also a cheerleader and manager of the girls’ swim team, and she continued to enjoy playing softball even after high school.
After graduating, Wilma began her career at the University of Pittsburgh before joining Elliott Company, where she dedicated 36 years of her life. Throughout her career, she built many meaningful friendships and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all else, Wilma cherished her family. She loved music, dancing, laughter, and spending time with the people she loved. She had a special place in her heart for dogs, especially her granddogs, Bronx, affectionately known as her “Bummalucchi”, GiGi, or “Geeg”.
She shared a special bond with her grandson, Austin, making memories from an early age enjoying the simple things in life, from trips and hikes in the mountains, picnics at parks, sporting events, and air shows, to riding roller coasters together at Cedar Point.
Wilma had a gift for making people feel welcome, loved, safe, and cared for. She could make anyone laugh, whether she was laughing with them or teasing them with one of her many inside jokes. Her sense of humor, infectious laughter, and unforgettable dance moves brought joy wherever she went.
She was also a deeply generous and compassionate person. Wilma supported numerous causes throughout her life, including disabled veterans and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was the kind of person who would truly give you the shirt off her back; if someone needed something, Wilma found a way to help. Her generosity was not simply something she did—it was who she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (LaMonica) Brunner; and her brother, Billy Brunner.
Wilma will be lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary Fiorina; her daughters, Alison Schoppe Speakman and husband Bill, Melaina Fiorina, and Jessie Fiorina; her grandson, Austin Schoppe; and her siblings, Barbara Howe and husband Bob, Lilly McCalister and husband Fred, and Mary Cassarino and husband Rich.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her beautiful spirit, her laughter, her dance moves, her incredible sense of humor, and the countless inside jokes she shared. Most of all, she will be remembered for the way she made everyone around her feel loved, safe, appreciated, and important. Wilma was truly one of a kind, and while her absence will be deeply felt, the joy she gave to others will live on in everyone who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Wilma’s memory to Compassionate Care ALS, an organization that provided invaluable support to Wilma and her family throughout her journey with ALS. Wilma’s greatest wish was that no one else would have to face this disease. To help raise money for ALS, friends and family are welcome to join the family in the Ice Bucket Challenge. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Al Lahham for his compassion, kindness, and exceptional care of Wilma throughout her journey.
