William E. “Billy” O’Donnell, Jr. 60, of Whitman, MA, died on April 14, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a brave battle with ALS.

Born in Dorchester, and raised in Braintree, he the son of the late William O’Donnell & Esther (Young) O’Donnell and a graduate of Braintree High, Class of 1977. Billy furthered his education, earning his Associate Degree from Cape Cod Community College.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Courier Corp in Stoughton, MA for 32 years.
As a man that couldn’t stay idle in retirement, he became a school bus driver for “1st Student” in Whitman & Abington. He also worked as a shuttle bus driver for employees of the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA.

He was a passionate Boston sports fan, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the beaches of Cape Cod. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him for telling jokes… both good and bad!

He was the beloved husband of thirty-nine years to Linda (Pike) O’Donnell and loving father to Annie Marie O’Donnell and Daniel O’Donnell all of Whitman. He was the brother of Eugene of Braintree, David of Worcester, Sheila Foy of Hanover, Kevin of Dennis, Barbara of NH, and the late Mary of Dennis.

His services will be held Thursday April 18 at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a Funeral Service at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday April 17 from 4:00-8:00PM.

A celebration of life will be held at the Abington Ale House, Abington, following his Funeral Mass.
