1960-2023

Terrence (Terry) Clancy, age 62, of Fairfield, the devoted husband and best friend of Carol Bennett Clancy for over 40 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Bridgeport to the late John and Anna Beatrice (Nancy) Clancy, Terry was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, class of 1978 and the University of Notre Dame, class of 1982. It was there that he met his wife, Carol and they married shortly thereafter.

Terry was a Financial Accountant and traveled the world with his family and lived for periods of time in Tokyo, Singapore and London before returning to Fairfield. In all of these places, Terry’s magnetic personality and enormous heart led him to establish lifelong friendships.

He was the kindest, most thoughtful person and thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with family. He could find joy in the little things, and he loved golfing, fishing, and skiing. He was an avid sports fan and music fan with an encyclopedic knowledge of both. He was always a huge supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, New York Giants, and the New York Mets. He was also never short of a joke, as all of his friends and family can attest.

In addition to Carol, he is survived by his loving children, John (Claire) Clancy, Emma (Daniel) Carter, Coleman (Kate) Clancy, and Annie Clancy; his cherished grandson, Patrick Clancy; his three brothers, Jay (Merrill) Clancy, Michael (Lauren) Clancy and Patrick (Marsha) Clancy; and, his five sisters, Colleen Clancy and Rodney Weiher, Maura Clancy, Meghen Clancy and Ray Kellett, Sheila Clancy, and Siobhan (Bob) Fanucci; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to greet his family on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held directly at St. Pius X Church on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Compassionate Care ALS, PO Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574 (www.ccals.org/donate).
