NOVEMBER 4, 1940 – FEBRUARY 10, 2020

BANDY, Teresa (Caico), 79, of Pocasset, MA, passed away at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham, MA on February 10, 2020.

Teresa was born to the late Giuseppe and Rosaria Caico (Mule) in Zavia, an Italian settlement in Libya.

Her family moved to the United States in August 1954 where she grew up in Mt Kisco, NY. After high school, she moved to NYC and enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology to study art and textile design. While visiting Virginia Beach with her friend, Annette, she met Joseph Bandy, her longtime husband. They were married on September 7, 1963. They raised two children in Katonah, NY, where Teresa also worked as an administrative assistant for many years. Not until she retired was she able to return to her real love of painting. Teresa and Joe traveled back and forth from Cape Cod to Naples, FL, where she was able to perfect her craft and concentrate on her love for watercolor painting.

Besides painting, Teresa loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was able to spend a lot of time with them as they were growing up, making many great family memories. In fact, they traveled to Italy to celebrate Teresa and Joe’s 50th Anniversary where they met and reconnected with many relatives. A few years later, they traveled to Dublin, Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland. During Teresa’s last year, she was diagnosed with ALS. Even though the disease made her last year difficult, she never lost her strength, grace, and positive attitude. She will be remembered by her family and friends as loving, caring, creative and a talented watercolor painter.

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Teresa is survived by her loving husband Joseph of 56 years. Her daughter Lisa Rooney (Bandy) and husband Tim of Duxbury, MA, her son Kevin Bandy and Kara Alderisio of Katonah, New York, and two grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, three brothers, 10 nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral Mass will be held on March 14th 2020, at St. John of the Evangelist Parish, 326 Shore Rd. Pocasset, MA.

Burial will be private.

It takes a tribe to care for ALS patients, and Teresa’s family greatly appreciates all of the outside help they received. A big thank you goes to Sunrise Senior Living in Plymouth for amazing care. Staff members and CNAs went above and beyond to help Teresa each and every day. Another big thanks goes to The ALS Association MA Chapter and Compassionate Care ALS. These two organizations helped the family better understand the disease, what to expect, how to handle challenges, and provided as needed equipment.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Teresa’s name to Compassionate Care ALS P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574 /
