Robert E. Sousa, 85, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his home after a year long battle with ALS. He was the beloved husband of Gloria T. (Leveque) Sousa with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.
He was born in Lowell on August 17, 1938, and was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Quintal) Sousa.
He enjoyed trips to Vermont, dancing, and cookouts. Bob was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
Bob leaves his children, Jeffrey Sousa and his wife Noreen of Florida, Paul Sousa and his wife Denise of Florida, Robert Sousa Jr. and his companion Jackie of Blackstone, and Joseph Sousa of Florida; his stepson Michael Tivey and his wife Rebecca of Lowell; his grandchildren, Michael R. Tivey and his wife Katie, Joseph Tivey and his companion Anna, Alexa Tivey and her companion Koby; Christina Sousa and Ryan Sousa; and two great grandchildren, Michael David Tivey and Jayden Schonberg. He also leaves his siblings, Donald Sousa and his wife Pauline, Shirley Lescard and her husband Donald, and Beverly Taylor.
He is predeceased by his brother George Sousa and his sister Evelyn D’Arezzo.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Rd., Chelmsford. Kindly gather at the chapel.
