ROWLEY – Peter A. Jean, 63, loving husband of Catherine R. (Liberti) Jean, died Friday, April 1, 2022 in the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers following a long illness.
He was born in Ipswich on March 23, 1959 one of the four children of Beverly A. (Horton) Jean of Ipswich and the late Paul R. Jean. In addition to his wife Cathy of twenty-seven years and his mother, he is survived by a son, Ryan J. Jean of Exeter, NH; two daughters, Rachel M. Jean and Hannah C. Jean both of Rowley; two brothers, William Jean of Kingston, NH, Kevin Jean of Ipswich; a sister, Paula Webber of Gloucester and many nephews and nieces.
Peter grew-up in Ipswich and raised his family in Rowley. He enjoyed the ocean, digging clams and floating along the Ipswich River on his Pontoon boat “Gimmie Sum!” His favorite days were being on the boat entertaining family and friends cooking sausage, hot dogs and anything else he could fit on the grill. He could often be seen on golf courses all over the North Shore, his favorites were Ould Newbury and Ipswich Country Club.
Peter found his true home at Eaton Corporation /Axcelis Technologies in 1994 where he encouraged many friends to join him and experience the family friendly atmosphere. He continued with Axcelis until ALS cut short his time there. He was lovingly cared for at home by his wife and daughters until he finished his life at the Kaplan House. He was peacefully surrounded on his final day with his daughters and wife by his side.
His funeral will be held Friday, April 8 at noon from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by a funeral service at 1pm in Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially welcomed. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 7 from 5 to 8 pm.
