Paul R. Koch, former resident of Farmingdale, NY, Old Greenwich, CT, and Belmont, NH passed away on June 20, 2026 at the Leonard Florence ALS Center for Living in Chelsea MA. He was 65.
Paul was the last of ten children of Warren Joseph and Rose Marie (Dauscher) Koch, he was born on August 24, 1960. He attended St. Kilian R. C. Grammar School in Farmingdale, NY and Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, NY. Paul earned a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he competed on the ski team. Paul was a particularly energetic child and teen who always had a job: from paper boy, to go-kart operator, waiter, bartender, and even selling ice cream at Jones Beach on Long Island, carrying a heavy cooler across the hot sand, to earn tuition as a collage senior for Semester at Sea. His Semester at Sea was a highlight of his youth, it allowed him to travel from Hawaii through the Far East. His bright blue eyes and constant smile was an asset in every occupation and endeavor during the course of his life.
Paul’s ambition and dreams continued post college, first working for the Scott Paper Company in commercial sales, and then as a mortgage broker. His experience as a mortgage broker propelled him into the banking business, becoming one of the youngest licensed mortgage bankers in New York State at that time. Paul loved to work with family and friends, hiring two of his closest friends from childhood, and even his oldest brother, Buddy, and his father Warren to help out in the growing business. Then he turned his sights to real estate, managing his own real estate portfolio into his retirement.
Throughout his life, Paul had a fervor for living, right to the end of his battle with ALS, even one last snow ski run at Waterville Valley, NH on a mono-ski, four months ago. His zeal and enthusiasm for water skiing and wake boarding on Lake Winnisquam in Laconia, NH was unmatched. From the first time he stood on a wake board at four years old, he was hooked, eventually becoming a competitive slalom water skier, able to barefoot water ski, and a competitive wakeboarder as an adult. Paul’s love of the calm, gleaming surface of Lake Winnisquam at dawn, was passed on to his four children, teaching them all to swim, ski, and wakeboard almost as soon as they could walk. He coached his two oldest children, Tori and Paul, into elite wakeboarders at state, regional and world championships.
Paul leaves four children from his marriage to Victoria Rose Giorgi: Daughters Victoria Rose (Tori) Koch of Baltimore, MD, Gabriella Koch and her son Sebastian of Framingham, MA, Monica (Moxie) Koch of Charleston, SC, and his son Paul Koch of Tampa, FL. Paul is predeceased by his parents Warren J. Koch, Sr. and Rose Koch, his brother Warren J. Koch, Jr. (Clair), and his sister Monica (Koch) Williams (Terry). Paul is survived by his remaining siblings: Bernadette Casey (Michael) of Colorado Springs, Rosemary Dobiac (John) of Denver, NC, Teresa (Terry) Koch-Bostic (Dave Bostic) of Mineola and Mattituck NY, Gerard (Tom or Jerry) of Raleigh, NC, Rita Noble of Talent, OR, Philip (Nancy) of Commack, NY, and Joseph of Sarasota, FL and Dayton, OH.
Paul’s ashes will be present for a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Kilian’s R.C. Church, 485 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY on July 10th at 9:45 a.m. EDT.
The family will not be holding a wake.
Resting place for his ashes: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH at a date TBD.
