Michael J. Bisol, 78, of Atkinson, NH, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2026 after a courageous battle with ALS.

Born and raised in Leominster, Massachusetts, Mike graduated from Leominster High School in 1968. A talented athlete, he excelled in football, wrestling, and track, earning numerous honors throughout his school years. He went on to attend the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts, where he earned his associate degree and continued to distinguish himself as a campus wrestling champion.

Mike dedicated his life to hard work, service, and family. He began his career with the City of Leominster Forestry Department, where he became a certified tree surgeon and tree climber. He later worked for New England Telephone Company and Valley Tree Service before returning to the telephone company in 1980, as a lineman. In 2002, he became a Safety Coach for Verizon Local 2321, a position he held until his retirement in 2009 after 37 years. Even in retirement, Mike’s strong work ethic never faded. He founded his own tree service business, “When the Bough Breaks,” and continued working until the age of 74.

Mike was deeply involved in his community and cherished the many friendships he built over the years. He was an active and proud member of the Atkinson Lions Club, where he greatly valued the camaraderie and service opportunities. One of his proudest accomplishments was receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was also a member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club, where he enjoyed competing in the Merrimack Valley Pistol League and participating in Sunday morning trap shoots.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed spending time at Ossipee Lake, fishing, hunting and waterskiing. He never missed an opportunity to support and cheer on his grandchildren in hockey, soccer, baseball and track, always showing up with pride and encouragement.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Kathy (Melanson) Bisol; his children, Holly Falzone and her husband, Rick, and Heidi Biron and her husband, Jeff; his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Lilly, and Lauren; his brothers, Gene Bisol, Tom Bisol and his wife Susan, and Bill Bisol; brothers in-law Gary Melanson, Joe Melanson and Len Grasso; as well as many extended family members and close friends.

Mike will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family, friends, and community. His legacy of hard work and kindness will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree or donating to Compassionate Care ALS in memory of Mike. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com.
