Michael Jeffrey Levasseur passed away quietly Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St Luke’s Hospital. Mike had suffered for about a year with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Married for almost 42 years to his love Sue (Susan Britton) Levasseur. Dad to the best daughter Amy and best son Brett. He thought the world of them.

He is also survived by his best friend and brother Jim (James) Levasseur (wife Janet), sister Diane Reynolds (husband John), and sister Audrey Levasseur (wife Moureen Coulter). Also nieces and nephews Christine, Jay, Karen, Rachel, Bill (also godson), Jacob, Nicky (also goddaughter), Ashley, Katie, and Emily and their spouses and children. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Muriel (Deshaies).

Anytime with his family was the best time. This includes going to the movies and out for meals with Sue, Amy, and Brett; breakfasts and general shenanigans with Jane (mother-in-law); and going for haircuts and breakfast with Brett and Jim. He also enjoyed gardening with Jim at his niece, Patty’s. He particularly loved holiday get togethers.

A big thank you to his brother Jim who helped us through Mike’s journey. Jim was always a call away. We would also like to thank his nieces, Katie and Ashley, nephew, Jacob, and his sister-in law, Jill, for their help during the last few months and days. He was also so proud to have walked his niece Ashley down the aisle almost three years ago.

Mike was a scientist, environmentalist, musician and general noise-maker. He was a drummer from childhood, eventually playing with the Golden Knights and other bands. He enjoyed nature and gardening. He was a staunch early advocate of recycling, composting and reducing carbon emissions.

He worked in the utility industry as an IT and Application Developer before retiring a number of years ago.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Compassionate Care ALS (ccals.org/donate). We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers with Southcoast VNA (especially RN Shelley and PT Lisa).

Services to follow in the very near future.

Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. To leave a note of condolence: www.rock-funeralhome.com.
