Mark F. Walsh, 58, a longtime resident of Dracut, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Susan L. (McArthur) Walsh with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.

He was born in Boston on December 29, 1965, and was the son of Elaine (Varnerin) Walsh and the late Frederick M. Walsh.

Mark was raised his whole life in Quincy. Mark was educated in the Quincy Public Schools and where at Quincy High School, he played football and basketball for the Quincy Presidents. Upon graduation, Mark attended the University of Lowell and majored in nuclear engineering. He continued his education, receiving his Master’s in Health Physics at the University of Lowell. Following graduation, Mark worked at the Veteran’s Administration in Jamaica Plan. He continued his career at Boston Children’s Hospital where he was involved with the research department for over a decade. As a Certified Health Physicist, Mark was also a member of the National Health Physics Society. Later in his career, Mark started his dream job as Director of Radiation and Health Physics at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Mark’s biggest accomplishments were his family and his career. He enjoyed amusement parks, cooking, gardening, walks with the pets, vacations with family, and coaching his children in sports.

In addition to his loving wife and his mother, Mark leaves his children, Ethan, Emma, and Owen of Dracut, his sister Karen Reilly, and her husband Peter, and Linda Walsh and her companion Brian Morrell; his nieces and nephews, Devon, Chris, and Austin Reilly of Milton; and his cousins Donna Marino and her husband Frank, and their children, and Brian Currier and his wife Dawne of Braintree and their children. He also leaves his uncle Robert Walsh and his wife Terry of Plymouth and children; his brothers-in-law, William McArthur and his wife Mary and their children of Haverhill, Robert McArthur and his wife Dot and their children of New Ipswich, NH, Ronald McArthur and his wife Diane and their son of VA, and Kevin McArthur and his wife Cathy and their children of Ringe, NH. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his father, Mark is predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, William and Sarah McArthur.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 4 – 7 pm in the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 144 E. Merrimack St., Lowell. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury.
