Lisa DellaValle Borlen, 59, of Monson passed away at Baystate Medical Center on Thursday August 13, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family, friends, and Pastor Holly Norwich. She was born in Lakeland Wisconsin on March 26, 1967, to Peter and Marjorie (Vokes) DellaValle. Lisa graduated from Wilbraham and Monson Academy in 1985 and attended Vanderbilt College. With longing for New England, she returned to finish her bachelor’s degree from Western New England College and her master’s degree and cags from Westfield State College.
Lisa’s career began at Yeshiva Academy in Longmeadow, then substitute teaching in Wilbraham, Hampden and Monson, Forest Park Middle School for a few years and then eventually to her beloved Valley View School in North Brookfield always the same need, middle school science teacher. She was a member of First Church of Monson on High St. Outside of her career her family was most important. Lisa is predeceased by her father Peter DellaValle, and aunt Cindy DellaValle.
Lisa’s grace and fortitude came from her faith, church, and yoga. She was a smart, passionate, kind, funny, and hard worker with the most inviting smile, who cared for others before herself. She was immensely proud of her sons and the happy, successful, grown men they have become; as well as the partners they have chosen whom she loved greatly.
She is survived by her sons Cody Borlen and his partner Lea Hamel of CT, and Sean Borlen and his partner Elara Fee of NC; her mother Marjorie DellaValle of Ponce Inlet FL; her brother Joe DellaValle of FL; her best friend Jill and Brian Cyr of Hampden. She also leaves her aunts Sharon and Armand Beaupre of Wilbraham, Pat and Bill Crowe of FL; her uncle Joseph DellaValle of Inverness FL; her cousins Michelle and John Wallace of NC, David and Yung Nam Crowe of CA, Heather and Guy Miner of NY Charles, Charles and Michael Beaupre of Springfield; her nephews Derek, Matthew, Christopher, Matthew, Connor, Kyle, Shea and Alex and of course her companion Buddy the golden Lab.
A Celebration of Life for Lisa will be held on Saturday September 19, 2026, at 11am at First Church Monson 5 High St, Monson, MA 01057. For those unable to attend in person, it will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/firstchurchofmonson/. Memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care ALS.
