Lisa D. (Turcotte) Freedman, 65 of Worcester, passed away peacefully at the Rose Monahan Hospice House, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Her passing marked the end of a difficult battle with ALS, which she faced with extraordinary courage and honesty. This forthrightness was a source of strength for those who supported her during her illness. She was an astute observer of people, maintaining her keen sense of humor and always thinking of others to the end.
Lisa was born in Leominster, a daughter of the late Robert A. and Estelle M. (Girouard) Turcotte. She graduated from Leominster High School and continued her studies at area colleges. She worked as an IT Project Manager for Digital / HP Compaq for 23 years and retired from UMass Medical School in 2018.
Lisa and her late husband enjoyed traveling, cooking and both found a love of the game of golf. Their last trip, to Israel, generated a lifetime of stories to share with family and friends. Lisa also remained close to all her work friends and enjoyed yearly getaways with the Mollies, and others for over the years.
Lisa was the widow of Sidney Freedman, who passed away in June of 2021 and shared an unusually close marriage together for 23 years. She quickly embraced the role of stepmother to Sid’s four children – Dov, Dalilah, Dahci and Desirae. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Turcotte and his wife Donna of Henniker, NH, Kevin Turcotte and his wife Sharon of Winchendon, Karen Turgeon and her husband Denis of Lancaster and Melissa Lancieri of Port St. Lucie, FL ; nieces and nephews, Jillian Turcotte, Lorissa Ciriello, Lori Burnham, Lucas Turcotte, Danielle Goudreau, Grace Goudreau and Dominic Lancieri, Micah Freedman and Hannah Fitzsimons; in-laws David Freedman and wife Susan Peirce; and step-grandchildren, Cara, Michael, Dylan, Annie, Nera, Tova, Kieran and Quinnlyn.
The family thanks all who have extended their loving care of Lisa through her time of need. Services for Lisa will be held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to: Compassionate Care ALS, P.O.
