West Brookfield – Laurie A. (Kostreba) Warren, of West Brookfield, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at her home after a long and courageous battle with ALS.

She leaves her life-long companion, caregiver, and former husband, Alex Warren; their son, Nicholas A. Warren and his wife, Nicole A. (Blais) of Weston; three grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, and Addison; her mother, Ardis (Kenyon) Kostreba of West Brookfield, her brother, Edward P. Kostreba of Palmer, and many former work colleagues and friends. She was born in and grew up in Palmer, daughter of the late Edward Kostreba.

Laurie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from Salem State College. She started her working career in early childhood education at Madbrook Academy in North Brookfield. She then became the Program Manager at The Bridge in West Brookfield for 20 years before retiring due to her illness.

Laurie had many talents and especially enjoyed cooking and baking. In their earlier years, she and Alex owned a restaurant in Beverly where diners would enjoy her delicious baked goods. She was a talented gardener, who spent relaxing times tending to the gardens around her home and volunteering to help friends with theirs. She loved working with children and older adults who faced the challenges of special needs. Her colleagues at The Bridge remember her deep devotion to those who needed her care.

A Celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care ALS https://ccals.org/donate/

Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
