His family said Kyle, who died at age 42, remained “positive throughout his fight, never complaining about the hand he had been dealt.”
MADISON, CT — After a courageous battle with ALS, 42-year-old Kyle Mace Connors, the father of two daughters, has passed away.
A Facebook page created by his family, My Hero: Kyle’s Journey, last updated in late 2019 explains that a 2013 back injury led to “months of medical opinions” that revealed a diagnosis of ALS. At the time, the page notes, he was still working as an IT Analyst for Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.
Connors, of Madison, was 35 when the family got the diagnosis, and they vowed to fight it. That led to a “squad of supporters,” including family and friends, organizing events to benefit ALS research. They created the MyHero.org fund to cover medical bills and help adapt their home to allow him to get around.
An annual Massachusetts ALS Polar Plunge with a team participating in Connors’ honor raised several thousand dollars. And with his passing, friends and family announced they had created a polar plunge team in his honor.
“Our hearts are still so heavy at the loss of our dear friend Kyle Connors, who lost his 7+ year battle with ALS just last weekend. Kyle was a beloved dad, son, cousin, nephew, colleague and friend to so so many whose life was cut tragically short at age 42 from ALS. Kyle’s amazing family, who were always there to lift him up in every way, were the first to create a team in this year’s plunge (not surprisingly at all, if you know the Connors) – continuing Kyle’s fight for all who are still fighting and for all who will be diagnosed with the devastating disease he so courageously fought. Let’s hear it for TEAM CHILLIN LIKE A VILLAIN – The friends and family of Kyle Connors, who are deeply in our hearts.”
Kyle Mace Connors, age 42, of Madison, CT, passed away at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown on Saturday, January 15,2022, after a 7-year battle with ALS.

A graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School in 1997, Kyle continued his education to receive degrees in Political Science and Biology from Assumption College in 2001. Until just recently, he worked in the IT Department at Lawrence and Memorial and then Yale New Haven Healthcare.

Kyle was our Hero in the grave fight against ALS. Remaining positive throughout his fight and never complaining about the hand he had been dealt, which was made slightly easier by the kindness and generosity shown by the community of Madison.
