John K. Tedeschi – 64, longtime Scituate resident, passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2023 after an almost 2-year battle with ALS.
John was a self-made man who built a successful business based on his integrity, loyalty, and strong work ethic. Born and raised in Cohasset, Massachusetts, he first started as a tradesman with the Carpenters Union in Boston where he worked on some of the most ambitious building projects in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. After years of training, he decided to pursue his own business in residential building and development. He had over forty years of experience in the industry and built homes all throughout Massachusetts’ South Shore, making him highly regarded in the community.
John had a passion for music, specifically bluegrass. One of his favorite places in the world was the Telluride Bluegrass Festival which he attended every year he could. He also had a fierce respect and love for the environment. He was a proud member of the Four Thousand Footer Club, hiking all 48 of the of the mountains in New Hampshire over 4,000 feet, and had fond memories of his yearly fishing trips to Costa Rica and Mexico. It wasn’t uncommon for him to drop off his catches for friends and family.
He was a friend to many, including Boston College High School rowing where he oversaw the rowing shells during the time his son Christopher was on the team. He found great joy supporting the program and cherished his time helping the team.
John was the beloved husband of Susan (Muller) Tedeschi, with whom he shared nearly 30 years of marriage. He also is survived by his 3 children, Jeremy Tedeschi and his partner Amanda Georgeson, Elizabeth Townsend and her husband Spence, and Christopher Tedeschi and partner Amanda Krakauer, as well as his grandchildren Jace and Ava Tedeschi.
He was proceeded in death by his father Edward Tedeschi, his mother Virginia (Sullivan) Peaslee, and his two brothers Edward Tedeschi and David Tedeschi. He is survived by his sister Sherin Tedeschi, his sister Alise Burbridge and her husband Richard, his brother Michael McDermott and his wife Sue, along with his Aunt Brenda Merlino and her husband Lawrence, and many nieces and nephews.
