John Mitchell Morawiec, 51, of South Windsor, CT died on November 22, 2024. John died due to ALS, a disease which he fought for 3 years with unrelenting courage and determination.

John leaves his wife Amy Morawiec and three daughters: Theresa (12), Christina (11), and Emily (9). He also leaves his mother, Zenobia Morawiec. John was the son of the late Aleksander Morawiec. He also leaves his siblings: Daniel (Janet) Morawiec of Palmer, MA; Ireneusz (Susan) of Montgomery, MA; Bernadette (Roman) Nowakowski of Belchertown, MA; Andrew (Dorothy) Morawiec of San Clemente, CA; Anna (Nicolas) Mansfield of Geneva, Switzerland; and Katarzyna (Elie) Jabbour of Allentown, PA. He also leaves his mother-in-law Marilyn Pawlak of Lexington, MA and his sisters and brothers-in-law Julie (John) Carney of Lexington, MA and Becky (Jared) Burdin of Westford, MA. John was also the son-in-law of the late Robert Pawlak. John was uncle to 22 nieces and nephews.

John was born in Poland, grew up in Springfield, MA and graduated from Central High School. John received his BFA from Suffolk University and MBA from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. He first worked as Art Director at Boston University. In 2012 John began work in Communications at the University of Southern California. He then worked as Strategic Marketing and Communications Manager at the University of Connecticut before transferring to Boston College as Director of Marketing and Communications, a position he held until his death.

John enjoyed landscape and interior design as evidenced by his attractive yard and home. John was also a talented artist working in oils and watercolors. John was a Civil War history buff, visiting many Civil War sites including Gettysburg as well as reading widely and researching Civil War battles. He loved music, especially blues, classic rock and Bob Dylan. John also shared with Amy a love of travel, visiting Poland, Austria, Spain and the Caribbean.

With his daughters John loved playing soccer, sharing his love of dancing and singing, cheering them on in sports, vacationing with them on the beaches of Cape Cod, teaching them to draw and paint, and hiking with them.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor, CT.
