JoAnn Van Dyke passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026 at the age of 79. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on October 19, 1946, to Donald and Virginia Mahoney, she leaves behind her husband and high-school sweetheart Richard, her sons Stephen and Peter, their wives Glenna and Lynann and grandchildren Megan, Matthew and Liaidan.
An alumnus of North High class of 1964, she attended Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in the class of 1967. She worked at many skilled health facilities in Worcester, was the head Nurse of Surgery at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, Maine and spent most of her career at Worcester Polytechnic Institute as the Director of Health Services and Director of Disability Services.
In retirement, she was an active volunteer at Abby’s House and the Hanover Theater in Worcester, as well as the food bank at St. Bridget’s Church in Millbury. She enjoyed frequent trips and adventures with the girls of Brierly Pond and travelling the world with her husband. Her fondest memories were summers in Wells, Maine and the community at Beach Acres.
To honor her wishes, there will be no calling hours, and family and friends will gather for a service to celebrate her life at Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Ave, Auburn, at 4:00 PM on Friday July 10, 2026.
