Chatham – Joan (Borthwick) Nickerson, 58, of Chatham, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2021 after a courageous battle with ALS, with her loved ones by her side.
She was born in Hyannis 6/4/1963. Graduated from Cape Cod Tech in 1981. Joan loved spending time with family and traveling. Her favorite vacation spot was St. Maarten which she visited numerous times. She enjoyed playing Bingo. She was the “lunch lady” at Chatham Elementary for many years and was loved by all. For the last 13 years she worked as a bookkeeper at 137 Shell in Harwich and will be missed my many who saw her there daily with her beautiful smile and vibrant personality.
She is survived by her parents Gilbert and Marilyn Borthwick, her devoted husband of 33 years Benjamin J Nickerson, their two sons Benjamin R and Christopher J Nickerson both from Chatham, her brother Robert R Borthwick from Chatham and her sister Kristina “Tina” and her husband Daniel Meservey from Brewster and many nieces and nephews. She is pre deceased by her FAVORITE mother and father in law Marilyn R and Benjamin T Nickerson. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Burial will be private and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
