James “Jim” R. Kent of Duxbury passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on May 9, 2024. He was the beloved husband for 36 years to Lisa (Wetzell) Kent and loving father of Brooke Kent and Tayler Kent. Son of the late Douglas and Patricia (Cooney) Kent, he leaves his siblings Douglas Kent and his wife Toni, Patricia Nicolella, Susan Kent, Karen Gilmore, and Barbara Kent, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim attended Ithaca College, where he met his wife Lisa, and graduated with a BA in Business. He started his long career in Finance in NYC, before following Lisa to Boston. He joined Brown Brothers Harriman and earned the opportunity to move to Luxembourg to serve as the Managing Director of the Luxembourg office. He and the girls travelled Europe, and it was there that he gained his love and appreciation for fine food and wine.

After 3 1/2 years in Luxembourg, they moved back to Duxbury. Jim’s summers were spent boating, clamming, and biking, and his winters were spent skiing at their home, Jim’s “happy place”, on Attitash Mountain, NH. He had a love for the outdoors and served as a trustee of the Duxbury Beach Reservation to help preserve Duxbury Beach.

Jim loved his family and friends, especially his college roommates whom he considered his second family. His greatest accomplishment and pride and joy were his two girls, Brooke and Tayler.

Jim had a huge love for life and took advantage of all the beautiful things it offered. He had an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up a room. He had a special way with people and loved with his whole heart. He will be missed terribly by everyone he met.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 601 Tremont Street in Duxbury. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory can be made to Compassionate Care ALS, by mail to P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574 or online at https://ccals.org/
