James P. Jim Flaherty, 60, a lifelong Maynard resident, died peacefully Tuesday evening, July 3, 2018 with his family by his side.
Born in Upland, CA, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Claire M. Flaherty. Jim was a graduate of Maynard High School and attended Wentworth Institute. An electrician, he worked for Carbone Electric of Boxborough for 38 years, and for the past 15 years was also employed part-time by Securitas. He had a love of nature, where he enjoyed hiking, and a passion for music, where he had an Wikipedia-like knowledge of the artists of his time. Jim would want his family and his many friends to dance to the music whenever possible. His wonderful sense of humor and gracious manner will be remembered by all whose lives he touched. Jim is survived by his wife and best friend, Miyoung Park; her son Justin, his wife Jen and their son Jackson; sister Kathleen Flaherty and her husband Steven Tahan; brother John Jack Flaherty, his wife Karen, and his children Lee and Kate; brother Brian Flaherty; aunts Evelyn Kane and Helen Beford, and many loving cousins.
In accordance with his wishes, a graveside service will be held Thursday July 12th at 11:00am in St. Bridgets Cemetery, Great Rd (Rt 117, Fieldstone Gate entrance) Maynard.
