NOONAN, Jacquelyn (Stauss) Jacquelyn Stauss Noonan of Cohasset, MA, passed away at home surrounded by her cherished family, after a brief battle with ALS on Thursday, September 7, 2023. She was 77.
Jackie was born on April 24, 1946 to Jack B. Stauss and Grace Massa Stauss in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended primary school in Hingham, MA and secondary school in Cohasset, graduating with the class of 1964. She attended Westbrook Junior College in Portland, ME, but Cohasset was always in her heart, and it became her lifelong home. Her house on Ash Street was legendary for its hospitality, especially on her favorite holiday, Memorial Day. Both Jackie’s husband, Brian Noonan, and her son, Garrett Hunt, served in the armed forces, and Jackie was proud to honor their achievements. Garrett’s decision to follow his father into the Cohasset Police Department was another source of great pride for her. In her own quiet way, Jackie was a model of service. She was truly the wind beneath the wings of her many friends and family members. Her warm smile, infectious laugh, excellent cooking, and endless kindness were given to anyone who needed them. She had four children, but she was mother to many, many more. Though a homebody, Jackie enjoyed annual trips to Provincetown and Aruba with Brian, her brother, Bill, and his wife, Marcia. The group loved eating out and were the life of the party at several local restaurants through the years.
Jackie is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Brian Noonan; son, Garrett Hunt and his wife, Kerrie; daughters, Erin Hunt and Devon Noonan; stepdaughter, Diane Noonan Dobson and her husband, Troy; grandchildren Kassie, Kaitlyn, Becky, Rylee, George, Brian and Joseph; brother, Roger Stauss and his wife, Kathryn; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Grace Stauss, and brother, William Stauss.
