Gregory “Michael” Campisano, 59, of Belmont, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 19, 2024, in the company of family.
Michael was the beloved husband to his wife Julie Perkins Campisano, and father to twins Elias and Lucia Campisano.
Born November 4, 1964 in Louisville, Kentucky, to Salvadore and Margaret Campisano, Michael graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1983 and The University of Louisville in 1988 where he was a member of Delta Chi. Michael headed to Boston to begin his career in Life Sciences, earning an MBA from Boston University in 1999. It was in Boston that he met his wife Julie and they began their family and life together while living in Allston and Belmont.
Mike was highly regarded in his roles at Thermo Fisher, PerkinElmer and most recently at Millipore Sigma as Senior Product Manager for Protein Separation. He often shared his work with his family and was determined to continue working as long as possible.
Mike loved reading, being outdoors and running. He completed four marathons, and countless half marathons and formed many friendships among the generous running community. Mike’s final race was in the fall of 2023, with the help of a running chair powered by Elias, and cheered on by family and friends.
Mike will be remembered for his commitment to family. Mike never turned down an opportunity to visit with family and support his children’s interests. Mike served as an assistant coach for Elias’ town soccer teams and enthusiastically spectated Lucia’s Theatre on Ice team in their many performances.
In addition to his devoted wife and children, Mike is survived by his parents Sam and Marg Campisano, sister Camy Heine and her husband Steve, nieces Maggie and Cate, as well as a large extended family in Boston, Louisville and beyond.
He is predeceased by his in-laws, Marsha and Daniel Perkins to whom he offered great kindness.
The family would like to thank Compassionate Care ALS for helping Mike as he fought this disease.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 10am-12pm at Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels located, 325 Trapelo Rd, Belmont, MA 02478. Parking attendants will be on duty. Plans for a Celebration of Life are upcoming.
