Springfield – It is with very heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Frank Rondinelli on Thursday, February 13, 2025 after a long, hard-fought battle with ALS. Frank was the beloved spouse of Mark J. Rubeck for the past 20 years, having enjoyed over 34 years of love and happiness together. He was the son of the late Frank Rondinelli, Sr. and Florence Rondinelli, currently of East Longmeadow. Frank was also predeceased by a brother, Peter Rondinelli, in 2002. A 1982 graduate of Classical High School and lifelong resident of Springfield, Frank worked as a Values Analyst for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company for the past 25 years, and was very well respected by his colleagues for his knowledge, quick wit and, most importantly, his ability to make everyone around him feel special. Frank was the most loving, caring, kind and genuine person that anyone could ever hope to be, as was evidenced by his undying and constant devotion to his family, friends, and most importantly, to his loving mother Florence, for whom he provided constant care and companionship to throughout his entire life.
Frank had many passions in life, including his love of animals, his taste for good food and wine, his keen sense of men’s fashion, and his fondness for music of all types, especially Motown and disco. He loved The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, and ABBA. During his youth, many a Sunday afternoon after church and the traditional meal of mom’s homemade sauce were spent with his mom and brothers listening to his favorite 45’s being spun on the turntable. In addition, Frank loved Westerns and comedy TV shows, especially old ones like Gunsmoke, Bob Newhart, Murphy Brown and Designing Women. Most importantly, he adored spending time his family and cherished dog, Peaches. Frank’s kind and gentle nature touched everyone that he met, and his courageous spirit will continue to live on forever in all of those who knew and loved him. Although he has been taken from us and we will miss him dearly, we take great solace in the fact that his tremendous suffering has finally ended and he is now at peace.
In addition to his spouse and mother, Frank leaves behind his loving brother Michael and sister-in-law Ann-Marie of East Longmeadow, his loving brother Anthony, sister-in-law Kerry, niece Alyssa and nephew Christopher of Feeding Hills, as well as several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. The entire family would like to thank Michael Hodgkins at Compassionate Care ALS, as well as Michael McCool, PA-C and the staff at Baystate Wilbraham, Dr. Margaret Ayo Owegi at the ALS clinic in Worcester, and Baystate Hospice Care for all of their love and support of Frank throughout his difficult journey, as well as the many nurses and therapists who helped to care for Frank over the past eight months.
At Frank’s own request, there will be no wake or funeral services, and his remains will be cremated with his ashes scattered on his beloved Cape Cod at a later date. A memorial mass in Frank’s honor will be celebrated at 9:00 AM this coming Saturday, February 22nd at Sacred Heart Parish in Feeding Hills, MA.
