Doris Sherry (Solle) Bousquet, a longtime resident of Falmouth, MA, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Michael M. and Rose Yvette (Gerber) Solle.
She was born and raised in Manhattan and graduated from New York public schools, Collegiate Institute Hunter College (math major) and later on, the College of Aeronautics (formerly Academy of Aeronautics Casey Jones Branch). She had an Aircraft and Engine (A&E) license and worked for American Airlines as the first and only female for 2 years with that license. She was very active athletically and won medals with the New York City swimming team, the NYC archery team and the Upper East Side basketball team. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, a Girl Scout leader and other organizations and received numerous awards. She lived with her air force carrier husband at many bases and came to Falmouth when he was stationed at Otis Air Force base. After she divorced she remained in Falmouth and was very involved in the community. She was a member and officer in the Falmouth Beautification Counsel, the Falmouth Child Study Group, the Falmouth Christmas Parade Committee, the Falmouth Fireworks Committee, the Falmouth Housing Trust, the Falmouth Republican Town Committee and State Committee, and worked at the Falmouth Service Center since its inception in 1983. She was a president for the Cape Cod Extension Counsel for 4 years. Doris was a very unique woman.
She leaves two nieces, Linda Magani and Donna Collins of New York, cousins Sybil Bruce of North Carolina, Darlene Lavadure of Tennessee and James Bruce of Massachusetts. She also leaves many friends including her dear friends, Jeffrey and Eileen Steele.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3rd in the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford Street, Falmouth. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Jones Rd., Falmouth.
