Donna Jean Fleury 6/16/58 ~ 2/24/24
Amherst, MA – Donna Jean (née Pelkey) Fleury
Donna Jean Fleury passed away gently on February 24,2024 in the early morning. Donna will forever be cherished and missed. She leaves us many gifts. To her children, Jackson, and Simone, she leaves childhoods filled with her tenderness, devotion, silliness, and abundant love. They were everything to her. She was her most beautiful as a mother. To her siblings, Susan, Lynn, Mark, and Beth she leaves memories of her outrageous wit, her daring, her softness, and her fire. To her mother and father, Jean, and Donald Pelkey, Donna was a whirlwind and a curly-headed, freckle-faced cartwheel. She leaves them her love and understanding, and the map she never followed. To her many nieces and nephews, she leaves bags of penny candy, sandy feet, naughtiness, and the warmth of her love. To her sister-in-law, Kathy, she leaves secrets and giggles.
A seeker of her spiritual truth, Donna embraced Judaism later in life. She was a bookworm, a firefly, painter, and woodworker. A lover of all animals, big and small, she was predeceased by many beloved cats.
Donna fought ALS with bravery and pluckiness. She is an example of true courage and acceptance.
She leaves her friends with exclamation points and question marks. To those who stood by her through her illness, gratitude. To the loving people at the Fisher Home of Amherst she leaves her deepest respect and wonderment at their strength. Donna leaves Michael Hodgins of Compassionate Care ALS, a raised eyebrow, and a roar. To Danny Frazier, for holding her hand, she leaves reverence, God’s blessings, and a big warm hug. To Andrew Stewart, she leaves her penny loafers, never ending laughter and her girlhood heart.
I believe in kindness. Also, in mischief.
