David Lynn Ishmael, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away at home on December 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 70 years old. David was born on March 31, 1955 in Enid, Oklahoma. He fought against ALS for 3 years, never complaining, which was a testament to his undeniable strength. For the last few years, David and his wife, Jamie, split time between two of his favorite places – his little ranch in Texas and his retirement dream home in Colorado.

David graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Chemistry and from Oklahoma State University in 1980 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He enjoyed his career in the oil and gas industry for 38 years and specialized in midstream natural gas. David was a natural born leader and loved to encourage his employees to reach their full potential and continue their education.

David and Jamie were married in Tulsa, Oklahoma and recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on December 19th. David fell in love at first sight and knew she was the one based on their similar qualities of strength, loyalty, work ethic, and love. Through all of the highs and lows, they remained best friends. Even when communication was at its hardest, David could still make Jamie laugh. They have three children and eight beautiful grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

David lived a full life filling his time with adventures to new places, visiting his family, hiking and exploring in Colorado, hunting and fishing, riding his tractor, tending to his garden, helping his kids and grandkids, trying new restaurants and manning the grill. David felt happiest when he was working at the ranch, where he embraced the beauty and simplicity of country living. He was known by his friends for hosting skeet shoots, giving you a bag of home-grown vegetables, inviting people over for dinner with no plan at all, and cracking jokes.

David was a man of God with a quiet disposition, but when he spoke, people listened because he always had an answer for every situation. He balanced his grounded morals and genuine kindness with wit and poking fun. Known for his incredible work ethic, David approached every task with determination and pride, whether it be on the ranch or in everyday life. His family will forever cherish his commitment to his marriage, his support and love for his children, and his desire to provide for his family for generations to come.

David will be remembered for his warm smile, playful humor, tractor-riding skills, life lessons, and ability to find peace in nature. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, faith, and a deep respect for life’s simple pleasures. Though he is gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jamie, and his children Jessica Lyons (John), William Ishmael (Brittany), and Rebecca Ishmael, his 8 grandchildren, his brother Rex Ishmael and his sister Tammy Hodge Vallejos (Dave). He was preceded by his parents Bill and Alma Ishmael.

A celebration of life will be held on January 3, 2026, at 10:30 am at The Grove Church, 8200 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007. Donations can be made to Compassionate Care ALS in loving memory of David Ishmael.

The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to the Ishmael family during this difficult time.
