Sandwich – David George Kasper, 51, of Sandwich, MA, passed peacefully on October 30, 2021.

Dave was born in Rochester, NY, to George and Janet Kasper on April 11, 1970. He went to Greece Arcadia High School and played soccer and tennis. He earned a BS in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he was a member and served as president of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He then spent many years at Penn State where he received a PhD in acoustical engineering.

He went on to work at Sentient Corporation in Idaho Falls, ID, and Burlington, VT, then moved to CT to be closer to his family. In CT, he worked at Sikorsky Helicopters for the past ten years and led multiple research activities with his latest role being the Mechanical Diagnostics Lead for their new heavy-lift helicopter. His comprehensive work over the years led to multiple patents and he was recognized as a subject matter expert in the field.

Dave was active and enjoyed hiking, biking, and working out. He enjoyed reading, genealogy, researching edible plants, and soaking in a hot tub. His biggest passion was skiing. He grew up skiing at Ski Valley, raced in college, and enjoyed many trips all over North America with his sister, parents, cousin Jeff, and many family and friends. His special place was Waterville Valley, NH, for spring skiing and games by the fireplace with family. Dave was a devoted uncle and adored by his nieces. He was easy-going and incredibly smart with a witty and dry sense of humor. He loved heavy metal and had a ridiculous speaker system where he blasted Rainbow, Dio, and Dream Theater. He loved movies, especially Star Wars. May the force be with you Dave.

Dave is survived by his mother Janet Kasper of Sandwich, MA, sister Deborah Manning, her husband Neil, and their children Ella and Audrey, of South Windsor, CT. His father George Kasper passed just two days after Dave on Nov. 1, 2021. Two short years ago, Dave married the love of his life, Eleanor Dodson. They resided in Shelton, CT, with Eleanor’s daughter Sonya. Dave was loyal to his friends and family and loved the Gardner, MA crew and his time at the camp with his Aunt Sally, Uncle Dick, and cousins Steve, Joyce, Rick, Sue and Bob.
