Motivated to Move Run Club

My girlfriend, Olivia, brought me to the Motivated to Move event earlier this year. I honestly had no idea what I was walking into, but hearing Keith and Katie’s personal connections to ALS, and CCALS Founder/CEO Ron Hoffman’s passion really stuck with me.

I lost my mom to breast cancer, so I know what it feels like to watch someone you love slowly lose their life to a devastating disease.

But something I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older is how fortunate my family was to have resources during that time. Cancer created an enormous burden on our family, but my dad wasn’t simultaneously wondering how he was going to put food on the table, keep a roof over our heads, and afford the care my mom needed.

A lot of families going through ALS don’t have that luxury.

They’re dealing with the possibility of losing someone they love while also worrying about medical expenses, caregiving, missed work, and simply how they’re going to afford everyday life.
That’s what really hit me.

I can’t change what these families are going through, but I’m fortunate enough now to have an incredible community of creators and brands around me. If we can use that community to take even a small part of the financial burden off families going through one of the hardest periods of their lives, I want to do it.
That’s what I want this run to be about.
