Obituary: Timothy “Fatty” Farthing

Portsmouth, RI – Timothy “Fatty” Farthing, 53, of Portsmouth, passed on peacefully after a 7 year battle with ALS surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Joanne (Biello) Farthing.
Tim was born in Newport on August 23, 1960 and was the son of the late Garney Farthing, Sr. and Elizabeth (Carroll) Whalon.
Tim attended Middletown High School, Class of 1978. He worked as a Scanning Technician for McLaughlin Research Corporation for 32 years. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Tim played on several softball teams for many years. He also played in several golf leagues. He was a Little League coach and later equipment manager for the Newport Little League. He was also involved with the Boys Town of New England for several years.
Besides his wife of 29 years he leaves his daughters Kirsten Farthing and Samantha Farthing both of Portsmouth. Tim also leaves his brother Garney (Floyd) Farthing of Portsmouth, and his sister Gail Frisk of Harrisville. He was the brother of the late Robert Farthing and Derrick Farthing.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 4:00 – 8:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
