MARSTONS MILLS – Thomas L. Urbon of Marstons Mills passed away April 2, 2016 after a courageous struggle with A. L. S. (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Bachman) Urbon.

Born in Brockton on March 14, 1953 to Stanley and Irena (Lingvevicius) Urbon, Tom grew up in South Boston and Dorchester. He attended St. Mark’s Elementary School in Dorchester and graduated from Boston English High School, class of 1971.

Tom had a passion for the ocean, fishing, boating, and exploring the great outdoors. He loved to garden and was a great cook. He could fix anything. A talented singer, he was chosen to sing at Boston Symphony Hall in his youth. We will always remember his deep booming voice, singing and laughing.

Tom started working at age 12 in a buckle factory in Dorchester. He was a foreman at Colonial Meats in South Boston, an appliance repairman, charter fishing boat captain, and worked 35 years for the Postal Service as a clerk, mechanic, and electronics technician, primarily in Boston, Buzzards Bay, and Wareham.

Tom will forever live in the hearts of his beloved wife Nancy; daughter Monica Gallagher, her husband Chris and their children Cole and Eve of Arlington; daughter Jennifer Urbon and her fiancé Eddie Beucler of Arlington; son Matthew Urbon of Marstons Mills; sisters Neringa (Frank) Bryant of Norton; Margaret Urbon of Jacksonville, FL; brother Darius Urbon of North Port, FL; cousin Nijaras Urbonavicius of St. Pete, FL; Nancy’s mom Roberta MacIntosh and many nieces and nephews. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

A wake will be held Wednesday, April 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at John Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills, followed by a funeral Thursday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Mashpee.
