Obituary: Sean E. Lucey

CHELMSFORD-Sean E. Lucey, 47, a resident of Chelmsford for 18 years, originally of Malden, passed away on Monday, November 7th at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a long and valiant struggle with ALS. He was the devoted husband of Nancy J. Baraldi-Lucey and loving father of Erin N. Lucey, a junior at Chelmsford High School, Evan S. Lucey, a freshman at Chelmsford High School, and Christopher J. Lucey, a 7th grader at the Parker Middle School.

Sean was born in Malden, on October 2, 1964. He was a loving son of Edwin Cyril Lucey, former Mayor of Malden, and his companion Carole Madden, and Mary Eleanor (Donnelly) Lucey and her companion Donald Puopolo, all of who survive him and reside in Malden. Sean was raised in Malden and was a 1982 graduate of Malden Catholic H.S. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chinese Language from UMASS Amherst in 1987. Prior to his illness he was employed in the Insurance Industry and in Real Estate Development. Sean enjoyed mountain biking and the study of T’ai Chi Ch’uan, and found comfort in practicing Buddhism. He was a dedicated Dad coaching his children in Youth Basketball and Baseball. He found great joy and comfort spending time with his family and friends.

Sean also leaves his siblings; Gregory Lucey and his wife Thomasina of Malden, Scott Lucey and his wife Michele Iacopino of Saugus, and Susan Farrell and her husband Robert S. of Wakefield, his sister in-law, Linda Lucey of Melrose, and his father and mother-in-law, John and Ann Baraldi of Chelmsford, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Brian C. Lucey and Dennis J. Lucey.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Thursday at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., CHELMSFORD. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will be private.
