Ronald A. Demers, 56, of Somerset passed away on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Fall River the son of Lucienne B. (Potvin) Demers of Somerset and the late Maurice A. Demers. Ron graduated from the Auto Mechanics Program at Diman Regional Technical Vocational High School class of 1973. Mr. Demers owned and operated Demers Brothers Citgo in Fall River for thirty-seven years before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed trivia and history. Ron had a unique ability that could recall events concerning history and sports statistics. He was an avid basketball fan and loved music. He treasured the time he spent playing trivia and math games with his great nieces and nephews over the years.

Survivors besides his mother are a sister: Anne Marie Watkinson and her husband Mark of Somerset, MA; a brother: Paul M. Demers and his wife Donna of Westport, MA; eight nieces and nephews: Lorie Ann, Paul J., Michelle, Melody, Annalyn, Anthony, Michael M. and David J.; five great nieces and nephews: Kiley, Lucas, Nicholas, Maddison and Joshua. He was the brother in law of the late Jeannine T. Demers.

Funeral Information

His Funeral Service will be held on FRIDAY at 9am from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Thomas More Church 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. CALLING HOURS will be held on THURSDAY from 4-7pm.
