Marlene M. Ernst, 83
Clinton – Marlene M. (Freitag) Ernst, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 14, 2016. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Anthony W. “Bud” Ernst, Jr., who died in 2014. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Heidi J. Hoag & Mark; A. Michael Ernst & Christiana; all of Clinton; Steven R. Ernst & Jeanine of Tampa, FL; her sister Diane D’Olimpio of Lancaster; grandchildren, Tava and Nina Hoag, Alfredo, Federico, Emma, Shelby Quay, Vivian, and Philip Ernst; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Marlene was born in Clinton to the late Roy & Mildred (Gaw) Freitag. She attended local schools and graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1950. Marlene continued studies at Clark University and began her career with the Clinton Trust Company. She later served the Town of Clinton as Assistant Town Clerk for more than twenty years before retiring. Marlene was a member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton and a volunteer at the Clinton Hospital Thrift Shop. She enjoyed many summers with family and friends at Bare Hill, Boar’s Head and Salisbury Beach. Marlene will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Funeral services are to be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Reservoir Pines Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home from 2 until 5pm on Monday, January 18, 2016.
