Obituary: Lillian “Lil” Elizabeth Burnstine

BURNSTINE, Lillian “Lil” Elizabeth, daughter of the late Samuel and Gussie Hoffman, passed away on February 14, 2014 in Ormond Beach, Fla., at the age of 90.

Lil is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Jerry Burnstine; her daughter, Devie Louza (Dan Patterson); sons, Allan (Karen), Norman (Joan) and Robert Burnstine, all of Florida; as well as eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Lil was preceded in death by her son, Michael Burnstine; her grandson, David Burnstine; her sisters, Ada Pfeffer and Nora Bernstein; as well as her brother, Leon Hoffman.

Before moving to Florida 12 years ago, Lillian was a lifelong resident of Richmond and a tireless volunteer at Jewish Family Services. Everyone who met Lil became her friend and she was known for her charming personality, generous spirit and the joyful manner in which she lived each day of her life.
