Joseph L. Ceurvels, 70 of Hanover, formerly of South Boston and Dorchester, died peacefully on March 20, 2013 at the South Shore Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 23, 1942 in Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Jeannette S. (Kemp) Ceurvels. Joseph served in the Army National Guard and worked for the MBTA Police Department for 28 years, retiring as the Deputy Chief in 1996. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, traveling and adoring his grandchildren.
Joseph was the devoted husband of Elena M. (Micciantuono) Ceurvels. He was the loving father of Elena M. Ceurvels-Murphy and her husband Paul of East Bridgewater and Scott Ceurvels and his wife Melissa of Hanover. Dear brother of Janice and her husband John Buckley of Dorchester. Cherished grandfather of Amanda Lynne, Peyton, and Morgan. Also survived by his sister-in-law Linda and her husband James Hart of Scituate and his brother-in-law Jack and Kathy Micciantuono of FL. He was the stepson of the late John Paskus. Joseph also leaves his best friend Edward Boyle of Rockland and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., HANOVER on Friday from 4-8PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St, Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery.
