Obituary: John B. Caron

John B. Caron, 90, of Dartmouth, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Emilia K. Amy (Wisz) Caron. Mr. Caron was born in Jewett City, CT, son of the late Michael and Sarah (Fahey) Caron and had resided in Dartmouth since 1961. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked as a boiler inspector for Hartford Steam Boiler, CT. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Merchant Marine and the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S Army. He was the past President of St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. George Conference and a 1st class fireman instructor at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Fall River. He belonged to a poetry group in New Bedford and the Westport Poetry Group, Westport and published a childrens book called A Tale of a Cow and the Chronology of Poetry. He enjoyed carpentry and was an avid wood carver.

Mr. Caron was a recipient of the Marian Medal in 1990 and was very active in his parish, St. George Church in Westport. He touched the lives of many, enjoyed life to the fullest, loved spending time with his family and embraced all that life had to offer. Survivors include his 2 sons: John P. Caron and his wife Cheryl of Rochester and Michael J. Caron of Dartmouth; his daughter: Christine A. Ferreira and her husband John of Somerset; a brother: Michael Caron of IN; 3 sisters: Leah Stevens of CA, Geneveive Parsons of WA and Irma Trow of FL; 2 grandchildren: Jessica Costa and Justin Caron; along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louis, Edward, Carlton and William Caron and Anna Sawyer.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, December 16, 2016 from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Taunton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O.
