WENDELL, Dorothy DOROTHY BERNICE HUNSINGER WENDELL Passed away on Tuesday, March 20th from complications of pneumonia at the age of 98.

Dorothy was born Sept. 19th, 1913 in California. She lived a full life through the advances and history of the 20th century, receiving her pilots license at 14, before her driver’s license. After marrying her now late-husband Robert (Bob) Alloway Wendell in 1946, she moved to Okinawa, Japan where they assisted with the post-war reconstruction. While living on Okinawa, she gave birth to her only son, William (Bill) Alloway Wendell, now deceased. After leaving Okinawa, Dorothy and her husband moved to Atlanta, GA to raise Bill. She became an avid championship bridge player, was a member of the Atlanta Pilot Club, and remained active and independent while living at Hammond Glen in Sandy Springs, GA until her death.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ellen Trayers Wendell and her grandson Patrick Alloway Wendell. Both were with her when she passed. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place at Hammond Glen, 335 Hammond Dr, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 on April 13th at 2pm.
