Donald Dennis Melanson formerly of Gardner and Westminster; 60

LEOMINSTER — Donald Dennis Melanson, 60, formerly of Gardner and Westminster, lost his battle with ALS in his home on October 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 4, 1954 in Minto, NB, Canada. Don graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1972. He was employed by Digital, Compaq, and HP for 33 years, then EMC for 8 years. He was a member of the PACC in Gardner.

Don loved working on cars and taking care of his property. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. Don was always there to help anybody in need. He was a very compassionate and caring person. He was full of life with a kind-hearted soul. Don always had those around him laughing and will be missed by all who knew him.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Claudette (Richard) Melanson, whom he adored; his daughter, Amanda and her husband Jon Monahan; his son, Donny Melanson, all of Leominster; two grandchildren, Chase and Hunter Monahan. He leaves his loving 97 year-old mother, Eva Melanson of Gardner; three sisters, Anita Caisse and her husband Francis of Ashburnham, Doris Vienneau of Gardner, his twin sister, Donna Dion and her husband Wayne of Florida.

Don also leaves his in-laws, Jeannine LeBlanc and her husband Steve (Don’s best friend), Cecile Kelemen and her husband Rob, Lucie Boucher and her husband Francis, Robert Richard and his fiancée Jodi Lynne, Raymond Richard and his wife Deb, Rudolphe Richard and his wife Loretta; also many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Ernest Melanson, and by his sister, Norma Frigon.

MELANSON — Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, from the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Westminster, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church Street, Westminster.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
