Published in Worcester Telegram & Gazette April 27, 2015
NORTH BROOKFIELD – Debra L. (Bumpus) Trainor, 53, formerly of Stoddard Rd., died Saturday, April 25 at Overlook Masonic Health Center after a seven-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She is survived by her longtime fiancé and caretaker, Bill Parker of Spencer; her daughter Kelly Trainor of West Hartford, CT; her parents, Adrienne (Martel) and Everett Bumpus of Charlton; her brother, James Bumpus of Southbridge; her sister, Linda (Bumpus) Froehlich of Charlton; and her nephews, Brian Froehlich Jr., Johnathan Froehlich, and Nathanial Mauke. She is predeceased by her son, Kevin Trainor.
Deb was born in Southbridge and lived locally her whole life. She was a graduate of Shepherd Hill Regional High School. She worked at RRI in Sturbridge for fourteen years before retiring as Human Resources Director in 2008.
Deb was passionate about horses, birds, and gardening. Her favorite place to be was at home, where she decorated each room carefully with sentimental pieces and knick-knacks of all kinds. Her favorite thing to do was relax barefoot in her chair with a book – usually Stephen King – and an endless cup of coffee. The Boston Red Sox were her baseball team of choice, and Mike Lowell was her favorite player. She enjoyed watching movies of any kind, but was most excited about all things horror and sci-fi.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Overlook Masonic Health Center for their outstanding care of Deb for the past few years.
Calling hours will be 4-8pm on Thursday, April 30 at Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge. Her funeral will be held at 10am on Friday, May 1 at the funeral home. She will then be laid to rest at West Ridge Cemetery in Charlton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052, Falmouth, MA 02574.
