Obituary: Danice Smith

SMITH, DANICE A. 67, of Gulfport FL and Portsmouth, NH died on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a long illness.

Danice was born in Mangum, OK on August 28, 1944, a daughter of the late G.L. and Virginia (MacDonald) Smith. She moved to Rhode Island in 1966 where she worked for Industrial National Bank. She retired from her position as an Assistant Vice President, Private Banking, at Fleet Bank in 1992. She remained active in civic work as she served on the boards of Common Cause RI and Shake-A-Leg. She met her husband, Franklin Dexter in 1992 and they were married in 1994. Danice traveled the world with her husband and friends. She loved to entertain, garden, and enjoy flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin Dexter; her children, David Browning and his wife Sandy of Olympia, WA, Michelle Hurley of Gill, MA, Franklin Dexter III and his wife Elisabeth of Buffalo, NY and Samuel Dexter and his wife Joanne of Middlebury, CT, Kathleen Hurley of Minneapolis, MN; her sisters Delphene Smith of Dayton, TX, Regina Moore of Frisco, TX and Tanya McDonald of Livingston, TX; her grandchildren Gwyn Browning, Phoebe Browning and Nathaniel Dexter and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Sherry Malone of Pearland, TX.

A celebration of Danice’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Wentworth by the Sea, 88 Wentworth Road, New Castle, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
