Barbara Ann (Brennen) Ward, 75
WORCESTER – Barbara Ann (Brennen) Ward, 75, of Worcester, passed away at home on Monday, September 22, 2014 with her devoted family by her side from complications of ALS.
She was born on June 30, 1939 in Worcester, daughter of Kathryn Brennen. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and worked as a secretary in the Worcester Public Schools for over 25 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of St. George Parish where she was a Master Catechist teaching Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
Barbara was devoted to her family, was a great cook and was known for her Sunday dinners. She was also an accomplished cake decorator for many years and shared her skills by teaching at Worcester Night Life.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth P. Ward; a son, Gary Ward and his wife, Kerrie of Rutland; 3 daughters, Donna Smollin and her husband, Kurt of New Braintree, Beth Rouse and her husband, Mark Anthony of Worcester and Kim Peloquin and her husband, Kevin of Rutland; 8 grandchildren, Leandra Smollin, Kristina Brinks, MarkAnthony Rouse, Malik Rouse, Gianna Rouse, Hannah Peloquin, Vanessa Peloquin and Brenna Ward; and a great-grandson, Aidan Brinks. A brother, George Rousseau and a sister, Jacqueline Raymond, predeceased her.
Barbara’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Colby, for her loving and compassionate care. A special thank you to Bayada Home Health Care, EPIC Health Services and all the staff at Jewish Home Hospice, who went above and beyond. Our sincerest thanks to Jodi Reale N.P., Dr. Johnny Salameh, and Dr. Mark Wilson for your kindness, support and exceptional care over the past two years.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on WEDNESDAY, September 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on FRIDAY, September 26, at St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester with burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.
