Alan Canevazzi of Plymouth, age 59, passed away peacefully in his home on September 2, 2012 due to complications from ALS. Alan was the loving husband of Paulette (DeCost) Canevazzi. Born in Plymouth on July 21, 1953 he was the son the late John and Shirley (Howes) Canevazzi. As a child Alan worked at his father’s North Plymouth store, Canevazzi’s Market. Following graduation from Plymouth High School Alan joined the Plymouth Fire Department in 1974 and served for 32 years. In 1987 Alan and his business partner Paul Zappella founded their local contracting company A and P Siding. Alan was an avid golfer, enjoyed rooting for all New England Sports teams and playing in bocce and cribbage leagues as a member of the Seaside Club. Alan most popular hobby, however, was making his homemade Canevazzi sausage for his fellow Plymouthians.

Alan was the loving father of his twins Andrea and Adam Canevazzi, and his daughter in law Kristin (Mali) Canevazzi of Annapolis, MD. Alan’s most recent joy was becoming Nonno to his 7 month old grandson Jacob Alan Canevazzi. In addition to his children, grandson and his wife of 37 years, he is survived by his brother Robert Canevazzi of Mashpee. He was the beloved brother of the late John A. Canevazzi.

Funeral from the Cartmell Funeral Home 150 Court St. Plymouth on Friday at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church Plymouth at 10:00 am. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 pm. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial donations may be made in Alan’s name to Compassionate Care ALS an organization that made Alan’s daily life with this difficult diagnosis so much more comfortable.
